Most economists see Fed rate hike in Sept - WSJ poll
FXStreet (Bali) - Lackluster US data in Q1 2015, coupled with a slow batch of indicators so far in Q2, have led to a change in perception over the timing of the Fed liftoff, a Wall Street Journal poll has revealed.
As the WSJ reports: "About 73% of economists in the survey, which was conducted Friday through Tuesday, said the Fed will start lifting rates in September. That’s up from 65% in the April survey and 38% in March’s poll."
Mesirow Financial Inc. chief economist Diane Swonk was quoted by the WSJ, noting that “the Fed needs to see the whites of the eyes of a self-sustaining and more healing recovery in employment before moving.”
